Candle Care Tips and common questions on Recycling

candle care tip 1

A Candle is like a companion, a pet which you occasionally have to maintain if you want it to burn longer and smell stronger as much as possible.

Ultimate rule:

Always allow your candle wax to melt into a puddle that reaches the edge of your candle jar / container before extinguishing the flame. First burns always take longer for the surface to completely melt so just leave them be! It could take 1 - 2 hours or sometimes up to 3-4 hours.

This is to prevent tunnelling which results in wasted wax and fragrances, and you’ll want to keep your candle alive as long as possible

Wood Wick Candle Care Tips:

Wood wicks are great because they set the ambience with the subtle sounds of cracking firewoods and they burn stronger and cleaner too!

However, over time wood wicks will elongate and blacken after burning so it is important to keep them trimmed at the right length otherwise it’ll be difficult to light up or the flame will be too huge which will evaporate your candle sooner than intended.

Here’s how:

  1. Keep wood wick between 3-5mm long before every burn.

  2. You don’t have to use scissors for your wood wick most of the time. Just use your fingers to pinch the crisp, fragile black part of the wood wicks and they will break on their own.

  3. If the wicks are NOT fragile enough to be broken, just leave it until after your next burn to trim it.

How To Clean Your Jar / Container:

Step 1: Take out the finished cotton / wood wick, then pour hot water into the jar / container to melt all the remaining residual wax.

Step 2: Once melted, just pour away everything in the jar / container and wipe clean with newspaper / paper towels.

**It is ok to pour it into your usual basin since we use biodegradable soy and beeswax - just pour hot water into the basin to flush away the wax
